This 50cm by 40cm piece by much aclaimed International selling artist Amanda Whewell is a multi media metallic collage, using metallic paints, relief outliners, gilding, wires and embossed metal foils to create an original and contemporary work.
The piece comes complete with mount, but unframed
This picture is an original design continuing in theme from Amandas summer 2003 exhibition ‘AustriAustralia’. The inspiration of this piece is the heavily ornamented work of Gustav Klimt.

After leaving the warmer climes of South East England Amanda now lives in the High Peak in Derbyshire with her husband and three children.
Since moving to the North West Amanda has embarked on a total career change, moving from a management position in IT to retrain as a freelance creative designer utilising a variety of art and craft techniques.
Over the past ten years Amanda has gained qualifications in art and craft at local colleges and has also studied many techniques that she brings into her popular workshops.
Using a variety of materials and her skills in creative design Amanda actively links into the works of famous and less well-known artists and designers of the 19th and 20th centuries as well as taking inspiration from traditional designs from around the world.
Amanda is an artist growing in popularity. Her work has been greatly admired at several local galleries in Derbyshire resulting in many commissions for her work. Her latest venture into electronic auctioning of her art has resulted in pieces being acquired by collectors all over the world.

This 255mm by 255mm piece by much aclaimed International selling artist Amanda Whewell is beautiful yet practical.
This piece created on solid wood with a central mirror measuring 100mm by 100mm can be used as either an eye catching piece of art or alternatively used in a practical situation as a finishing piece to either a bathroom or bedroom.

How was it created ?

The piece was designed using acrylic and metallic paints with a detailed finish in relief outliner to give an unusual and effective texture. This is then gilded to give a unique, yet natural, finish - finally to protect the gilding and painting the piece is finished in a matt varnish

Peak Art Cyber Café Exhibition
14 April-26 May 2004
This will be Amanda's third exhibition in as many years at the popular and lively Peak Art Cyber Café in New Mills.
The inspiration for the exhibition is the rugged volcanic landscape and beautiful flora of the Island of Tenerife. Amanda spent time travelling around the Island during the winter; from the awe inspiring heights of Mount Teide to the stunning and colourful flora to be found at lower levels around the Island.
Working from sketches and photographs of her visit Amanda's interpretation is contemporary and abstract in style using acrylics, metallics and gilding to give texture, colour and feeling to her art.

Since moving to the North West Amanda embarked on a total career change, moving from a management position in IT to retrain as a freelance creative designer utilising a variety of art and craft techniques.
Over the past thirteen years Amanda has studied art and craft and led successful craft workshops at Hobbycraft and the Mottram based Card Creation Company. Amanda has also made guest appearances on Granada TV's 'Simply DIY'
Amanda runs a wide variety of mobile workshops tailored to suit your requirements. These include working in primary and secondary schools (either as a curriculum based lesson or as a fun activity), youth groups (Brownies, Guides, youth clubs etc) and other groups or clubs - all ages and abilities!
Also available are talks and demonstrations with a 'hands on' option suitable for W.I., social clubs, University of the Third Age to name but a few. Or how about a 'training the trainers' session, giving new ideas to group leaders, teachers (inset sessions), childminders etc. enabling you to run successful craft groups yourself.
