Marcus Antonius Jansen describes his work as Urban-Expressionism - a combination of many different elements and styles which at first sight make his paintings appear like detailed collages.
Since the 1980s, urban influenced art has incorporated subcultural elements, urban feel and raw graffiti expression. Painters like Keith Haring and Jean Michel Basquiat were the first renowned artists to bring graffiti-influenced art to the mainstreams. Despite of widespread criticism, urban contemporary art has yet taken a back seat on the global market.
